What is a self-service laundry?
The self-service laundry (a.k.a. self-service washing machine) is a place with professional washing machines and tumble dryers, where you wash your laundry yourself quickly and economically. You do not need an appointment or a subscription: you go in, put on your clothes, pay only for the washing you will do and leave with clean, dry clothes.
It's ideal for students, downtown residents without their own laundry, Airbnb guests, and anyone who has to wash big or many clothes together — something a household washing machine can hardly lift.
How it works: the 4 steps
- Pick a washing machine and load the laundrySeparate the whites from the colors and put the clothes in the bin without overfilling it, so that they clean properly.
- Use detergent & select a programmeAdd detergent and emollient (available in the room) and choose a temperature depending on the fabric — usually 30°C for delicate/colored and 40–60°C for durable or heavily soiled.
- Pay and get startedPay with coins or chips and the washing machine starts. If you only have banknotes, use the coin exchange machine.
- Dry clothesOnce the wash is finished, take the laundry to the dryer. In a few minutes they are ready to fold and leave.

How are payments made?
Machines work with coins or tokens. You only pay for the washing and drying you will do, without fixed fees or subscriptions. In every store there is coin exchange machine, so you can easily convert banknotes into the coins you need. If something is troubling you, there is telephone support for every instruction for use.
How much time will I need?
One of the main reasons people prefer self-service is speed. While at home a wash can last 2–3 hours and the spreading another so, here washing and drying completed in about 60 minutes. You can comfortably wait in the space — there is also free Wi-Fi for customers.
Hint: If you have a lot of laundry, put two machines on at the same time. So you wash twice as much laundry in the same amount of time — which is impossible with your home washing machine.
